Unusual Porcelain American Cold War Regimental. The owner of this stein has a unique position of operating the Flight Simulator at Hahn Air Base in Germany. It was training for the new (at that time) McDonnell all weather F-4 Phantom II, with a top speed of more than twice the speed of sound. It first flew May 27, 1958 and entered service in the 1960's. It served the military for more then 20 years and set numerous flying records. Hahn Air Base was 50 miles west of Wiesbaden. First squadron assignment t was in September 1952 with US placement remaining t throughout the entire cold war period. This stein completely commemorates the F-4 Phantom with the finial of this fighter, as well as a whitish Phantom on one side and the army green colored phantom on the other side. The owner served from 1966-67. The stein is in excellent condition and has the usual nude woman in the lithophane base. Don't let this one fly off on you.
