Conklin Crescent Early Fountain Pen 1903-6 - #31, Flexible Fine Nib (Restored)

Conklin Crescent Early Fountain Pen 1903-6 - #31, Flexible Fine Nib (Restored)

Specifics TypeVintage fountain pen with crescent filling system and flexible nib Product Name Conklin Crescent model 31 (it's marked on the end of the body). This is a very uncommon model. Manufacturer and Year Conklin -- the barrel imprint indicates a date between 1903 and 1906. There's no writing on the Crescent Length 5-7/16" and very slender Filling System Conklin's patented "crescent" filler. You turn the ring till the slit in the ring lines up with the crescent ring and the opening, and that allows you to press on the ink sac and fill the pen. We replaced the sac and the filling system works well. Color Black chased hard rubber with two ornate gold filled bands on the barrel Nib Conklin Toledo #2 nib (flexible, but not a "wet noodle"). You get some nice line variation from fine to broad -- see the writing sample below.

Very nice condition! The chasing is good, and the color a little brown-ish. The imprints are good and easy to read. There is brassing on the bands, but it looks like the crescent ring may have originally been brass. Some scratches on the section.

The filling system works great and the pen writes like a dream.
