I have a lovely little motto plate from the 1800's.I'm not sure if this was just a decorative plate or used as a butter pat.It measures 4 7/8" across and has a raised floral design around the border. The motto reads: FLOWERS THAT NEVER FADE, CONTEMPLATION LORD WHAT IS LIFE- 'TIS LIKE A FLOWR THAT BLOSSOMS,& IS GONE! WE SEE IT FLOURISH FOR AN HOUR, WITH ALL ITS BEAUTY ON.The picture of a mother and daughter is red transferware. They are looking at a flower at it's peak.On the back the number 2 is impressed. What a wonderful little dish to add to your early plates. The condition is excellent. Please ask any questions you might have.Good Luck!
