Cranberry opalescent kerosene/oil lamp converted electric. The cranberry glass font of the lamp is cut to opaque white to reveal grape bunches and grape leaves. This pattern is known as grape band. The opalescent cranberry hobnail shade reflects the same color scheme with a tinge of blue in the opalescent areas. The base is made of marble. This lamp was created in the late 1800s then converted to electric at a later date. The lamp base and font are in excellent condition with no real issues. There are five miniscule splits in the brass collar and two very minor marks on the gold paint of the stem. The opalescent cranberry shade has the expected roughness on the bottom edge with three small dings (1/2, 3/8, 3/8, 1/8 in.) (12.7, 9.52, 9.52, 3.18 mm.). On the top of the shade there is a 1/8 in. (3.18 mm.) flake and a 7/8 in. (2.2 cm.) tight hairline in one of the folds of the ruffled top. Every single hobnail is intact. Recently rewired and now has a three way switch (requires a three way bulb). Dimensions- height- 22 1/2 in, (57.2 cm.), shade diameter 10 in. (25.4 cm.), base width 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.). This beautiful Victorian style lamp is a steal at this price and won't last long.Notice: Lighting fixtures have in most instances been rewired by nonprofessionals and WITHOUT UL or other testing or approval.
