I got this good lookin knife sheath near Hardin, Montana along with a small collection of goods. The core design is of red and greasy yellow angled boxes that represent family. The boxes are done on a field of unusual dark blue, that almost look black, but have teal undertones. The sides have slashes of greasy yellow and pony-trader blue while the top has a mountain design. T is a row of fringes below the top mountain design and t are tin cones attached to the end of each one. At the bottom point t is a wrapped-beaded drop with 4 buckskin fringes flowing out that each have a tin cone attached. T is a leather throng on the back for attaching to a belt. This is all hand sewn with cotton thread on home-tanned buckskin. I believe it to be from the first half of the 1900's. It measures 10 1/8 inches from the top right hand corner to the bottom point with the drop and fringe adding another 9 inches or so. It is 3 1/4 inches across the top opening. I don't know if the knife is original to the sheath, but, they came together, so they are leaving together. The knife blade is carbon steel and is 12 inches long and runs all the way thru the handle. It averages 3/4 inch wide. T are 3 rivets in the handle and on one side of the blade are some words that I had a hard time getting a picture of and a harder time trying to read. It says something
