Spectacular ornate Union City Tennessee negative ring postmark cancel with manuscript July 14 (1861) AND manuscript Pd 5. Ex. ATKINS (Alan)

Addressed to Miss Tiney (Eglantine) Agours, Stanton's Depot, Tennessee. Many letters from relatives to Miss Eglantine Agours (1825-1912) are archived at Duke University. She is known to have had a relative, Sergt Samuel L. Trigg, in Co H 12th Ten Inf who is the sender of this cover. Sergt Trigg is listed as killed in a skirmish at Lavergne, Tenn on December 9, 1862.
