Curse of Lono Hunter Thompson Ralph Steadman Running

A extremely rareand impossible to find collectible Hunter S. Thompson / Ralph Steadman cover story collaboration for Running Magazine dated April 1981, Vol. 6 No. 2 titled “The Charge of the Weird Brigade.” Thompson’s former Rolling Stone Editor Paul Perry who was then the Executive Editor of Running Magazine commissioned the cover story and art. “The Charge of the Weird Brigade” took a close and early look at the new national phenomenon called “running” using the 1980 Honolulu Marathon as Thompson’s investigative and focal point. “The Charge of the Weird Brigade” was later expanded and reedited into “The Curse of Lono” originally released in soft cover 1983 and then later re-released again in a limited signed Taschen collectible and then again in a oversized consumer edition in 2005. The magazine is in very fine condition with no notable crease dings, tears, etc. The spine shows very slight rubbing but is barely noticeable. There is a very slight hint of yellowing on some pages which is normal for a magazine of this age. The pages and art (including the cover) for “the Charge of the Weird Brigade” are in very fine shape exhibiting strong colors. This magazine is a must for any Thompson or Steadman collection!
