Up for auction is a custom, GAS POWERED TETHER CAR. It all started with a DOEPKE "MODEL TOYS" JAGUAR XK-120, cast aluminum body, and a K&B .61 airplane engine. It just looked like they should somehow get together. After about 120 hours of machining, fabrication, welding and painting, this is the result. The frame is 1/2" square steel tubing. The drive axles are 1/4" steel riding in machined aluminum pillow blocks with ball bearing inserts. The differential is from a TRAXXAS 4 wheel drive R/C car. The wheels are machined aluminum, pin drive with knock offs. The K&B .61 engine was bench tested before being put in the car. It has a custom steel exhaust, steel motor mounts, and a steel drive shaft that is easily disconnected from the drive wheels by loosening 2 set screws and a jamb nut. This way the car can roll without turning over the high compression engine. The interior is diamond plate aluminum. The bomber seat is aluminum with leather seat cover. The dashboard is walnut. The gauges are from a P-40 model airplane kit. It has a working throttle lever along side the seat. There are traction bars from the Diff to the frame. The gas tank is brass, with machined aluminum gas cap. The paint is house of color automotive paint. After priming and block sanding, 2 coats of silver base coat were applied.
