This is a very cute little baby's bowl dating from the 1930s - it illustrates the Nursery Rhyme "See Saw, Margery Daw" - and it is a lovely decorative piece, designed by the famous illustrator Heath Robinson and made by Midwinter. The little bowl is not perfect, but displays well... the decoration has a few wee cutlery scuffs to the surface, and as you find on all these early Midwinter ceramic pieces, a slight surface crackling to glaze which you only see when you tip the bowl to bright raking light. There is a chip on the base as seen in my photograph, but not visible on display - it has an early Midwinter red backstamp... Although not in tip top condition - these early Midwinter plates by Heath Robinson are now keenly sought after - and I have offered a good starting price for this taking into consideration condition issues with it. It will display well on a kitchen dresser..
