You are bidding on a highly collectible vintage commerative plate honoring the record set by the famous race horse Dan Patch. Naturally due to its age, t is some crazing and slight scratches. T is a chip on the back of the plae (pictured). The mark on the back of the plate that reads, "Semi Porcelain" but I am not familiar with the mark that appears to be a bow and arrow shooting upwards. This plate came from the estate of a long time antique dealer/collector and unfortunately I don't know anything else about the age of the plate. I did, however, do some research on the internet and the information listed below on Dan Patch. This is a great find for any horse lover or horse racing enthusiast. Background on Dan Patch Dan Patch was foaled on April 29, 1896 in Oxford, Indiana. The young horse showed little promise in his first year, but a local trainer saw potential in the animal and trained the horse to develop his racing abilities. Dan Patch lost only two heats in his entire career and never lost a race. His speed was such that other owners sometimes refused to race their horses against him, leaving him to run against the clock. Dan Patch's official record of 1:55¼ for the pacing mile was set in 1905 in Lexington, Kentucky.
