Dated 1894 Victorian/Edwardian Era Family Cabinet Card Photo Album

Offered for auction is this Victorian Edwardian Era red velvet and celluloid photo album. It was purchased together with a Civil War Era 1866 album I am listing this week - both belonged to the same family.

The album measures approximately 16.25 x 7.5 x 2.5" and weighs over 7 lbs. It contains 64 photo's.

The beautiful celluloid cover has a cracked "dent" and the velvet is worn but the album is not too bad considering it is over 125 years old.

The metal closure hardware works great - it is solid, not wobbly.

The inside of the cover is inscribed: "Presented to Miss Minnie Barber. April 8, 1894." There was, once, another inscription which was scratched out at some time.

The album photo cardholders are, definitely, worn with a tear here and there so see my photo's carefully for it's physical condition. Past experience with photo albums has taught me not to disturb the photos in their slots so I have not attempted to remove or move any of them. All but one of the page still has tissue protectors between the pages.

There are 64 photo's in the album. 25+ are photo's of babies, young children or teenagers. The communion photo's have dates that appear on the table stands in the photo's They are dated 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903. Several of the photo' show they were taken by photographers in Illinois.
