A beautifully hand coloured and gilt highlighted map of the British Isles by Frederick de Wit titled Nova Totius Angliae, Scotiae et Hiberniae and published in Amsterdam c.1675. The map depicts the British Isles in fine detail and is adorned with a highly decorative title cartouche centred around the royal standard as well as individual depictions of each of the flags of England, Scotland and Wales. The map area measures approx 565mm x 480mm with margins beyond, blank verso. The condition is generally very good although buyers should note that the centrefold has been strengthened on the reverse and there is a repaired closed tear at the top and a closed tear of approx 55mm at the base of the centrefold. There is very light toning and one or two instances of light spotting as well as blind stamps to the top left and right corners of the map. Overall a very nice example (see photograph).
