Rarely seen Permit Book under The Defence Of The Realm regulations of First World War period. Sixteen pages. This document was issued to Dorothy Florence Sweet in July 1918, with specific permission to Sketch and Paint. Issued by the competent military authority and the photograph sanctioned by Finchley Police Station. Dorothy Sweet was a professional artist in the mediums of watercolour and etching. She was technically very proficient but it seems likely that like so many other female artists of this period her career ground to a halt during the depression of the 1930's. A poignant and historically interesting document from the early twentieth century. Condition is very good with clean cover, tight pages and staples remain un-rusted.
