On offer is a delightful late 19th century watercolour depicting a scenic country landscape with a calm river crossing the foreground of the composition. The scene is animated by figures of anglers in a rowboat, a peasant woman and a child walking a path along the grassy river bank and some figures passing a bridge in the background. The artist employed a very precise, delicate and smooth brushstrokes and a nuanced palette of colours to reflect the simple, unpretentious beauty of the scenery.

The painting is in an almost perfect condition but with a slight age toning of the varnish. The colours would benefit from a cleaning of the surface. You can hang it as it is. The nice moulded giltwood frame is in a fair condition but with cuts and scratches.
