This cute COUNTRY CHURCH (also known as the WAYSIDE CHAPEL ), is the fourth of the Original Six buildings in the Snow Village Series, which were all made from 1976 to 1979. Names and dates weren't etched on the earliest building, but this does have the old Dept. 56 sticker on the bottom.

The Chapel has both round and arched windows, a steeple, and a cross over the partly open door. T are two blue birds, one landing and one perched on a bird house at the side, under the painted inscription "Rest Awhile Take Time To See". On the right side is painted "Peaceful Thoughts For Your Journey", and on the front it says, "The Wayside Chapel Welcome Traveler". A vine with green leaves and red flowers (or berries) climbs up beside the door and across the top. The inscriptions and vine all feel hand painted on this building. No two Chapels will be exactly alike, and this one is more carefully painted than usual. A snowy evergreen tree with openings to let light shine through is attached at the right side.

This Wayside Chapel is in very good condition. T may be a paint flake missing a the light hole--it and the bottom openings are roughly cut so it's hard to tell.
