Heritage Newspaper Collection=========================================Most know the history of this top ten newspaper of the twentieth century.The Chicago Tribune jumped the gun in calling the presidential race in favor of Dewey. The papers were out on the newsstands already when they realized Truman had in fact won the election.Then there was the scramble to gather all the papers from the newsstands but they only succeeded to a degree. This paper, before you, is one that did not get gathered. Then there is the background story of the printers being on strike and management had to do the type setting. Of course, when management does the work, instead of rank and file, you can be sure there are going to be some mistakes. After all, the people who really know how to run things are the ’workers’. And in this case the result is upside down print. But there is a solution. If you are really interested in what the print says in the picture above you can turn your monitor upside down. Condition: 48 of 54 pages. 6 pages of financial section missing.Two missing areas on right hand border affecting no text on page one or two.
