Recognized, along with Harvey Littleton,
as the ones who propelled the
Studio Art Glass movement in America,
Dominick Labino is perhaps
one of America's greatest glass artists
A scientist by trade, he was fascinated by glass
and it's properties
His tenacity for understanding the process
of making glass objects, lead him
to create a fluidity and originality in glass not
seen in American Art Glass, pioneering
America's first art glass studio
In 1963 he met Harvey Littleton and together
they began what would later be known as
the Art Glass Studio Movement
In 1966, he began his own art studio under
the auspices of the Toledo Museum of Art
In 1967 he published his first art glass book
entitled "Visual Art in Glass" published
by W.C. Brown Co.
This particular vase appears
in the book by Otto Wittmann & Daniel Hogan
entitled "Dominick Labino, A Decade of Glass
Craftsmanship".
He is a listed artist whose works are
held in some of the world's finest museums,
universities and private collections
