No date given, mid-19th century presumed, t his huge volume is in full leather, tooled on all sides in detail, gilt titling on front and spine... We've seen this in partial leather or cloth boards, none in full regalia as this one is.. An early printing with decorative endpapers, gilt on all page edges.. Full page Dore illustrations engraved by Pisan as well as smaller ones all throughout..
Condition : We've got a prior owner bookplate and a stamped number on the ffep, the front board is loose and the first couple of pages are taped at spine (old tape), the spine is all there but needs to be attached (to the front board only, it is fully attached to the rear board). The pages are clean, we don't see any obvious wear to them, nor any writing at all. There is wear to corners, spine headbands, edges, see pics.. Needs to be rebound (or at least the front board to be attached) but we'd certainly keep the leather if possible, it is not flaking or in fragile condition at all.. The sewn binding needs tightening as well with some early pages loosening..
A large, heavy book, 737 pages
