The Late Duke of Wellington by George Baxter dated 1860s. This is a very popular print, said to be a striking likeness, shown with star of the Order of the Garter. It was so popular that several editions where made to cope with demand, it varying from the first in that his arm is outside the cloak. Le Blond printed from the plate, but as it is unsigned by either him or Baxter identification is down to experience. In this case it is easy as the quality is excellent. This piece is unmounted but in what appears to be an original frame with wax like paper to the rear. It has an embossed stamp on it with Northampton Square with printed in oil by Baxter in an oval at the bottom center.
