Early 10" Chrome Red NC Pottery Vase attr. Duck Teague, 1920's

Up for auction is this nice sized old Chrome Red glazed NC pottery vase. It is not signed, but given the clay color and all the grooved "lines" decorating the body, we attribute it to teh shop of Bryan "Duck" Teague. Vase was likely turned by his brother, Jim (James G. Teague), sometime about 1928, give or take a couple of years. The vase stands pretty close to 10" tall, and measures 7" in diameter at the belly, so a very nice size. There are a couple of minor condition issues to mention, but suffice it to say there were no cracks or breaks in the body. There is a flat rim chip, and a small face chip just under the rim, and a chip to the base/foot that I have touched up with Crayola crayons. There is also a small kiln kiss mid body, which is a simple "factory flaw", but I touched it up as well. I was able to blend the colors fairly well... at least the folks who have seen it said it was a decent job. You certainly couldn't see them from 5 ft away. And if you prefer to remove the touch ups, a little soap and warm water will do the job nicely. Vase ships USPS Priority OR Standard Ground Parcel (Economy) Insured Mail. All items can be picked up in person at our store in Mayodan NC, if desired. Please be advised that due to a scheduled picking trip, this item will NOT be available for shipment or pickup until Monday, June 27th. Thanks ... read more
