Early 1900âe(tm)s Antique Hartford Fire Insurance Ruler

This is an antique Hartford Fire Insurance metal ruler showing the major losses paid between 1810 and 1906. T is a patent date of Sept 8 th , 1885 printed on the back. It lists $121,000,000 paid in losses at New York 1835 (The Great New York Fire destroyed the New York Stock Exchange and most of the buildings on the southeast tip of Manhattan around Wall Street on December 16-17, 1835) , Portland 1866 ( The Great Fire of Portland, Maine occurred on the first Independence Day after the end of the American Civil War on July 4, 1866. Five years before the Great Chicago Fire , this was the greatest fire yet seen in an American city. ) , Chicago 1871 (The Great Chicago Fire was a conflagration that burned from Sunday October 8 to early Tuesday October 10, 1871 , killing hundreds and destroying about four square miles in Chicago, Illinois ), Boston 1872 (The Great Boston Fire of 1872 was Boston's largest urban fire and still one of the most costly fire-related property losses in American history.), Saint John 1877 (In late June 1877, Saint John, New Brunswick, was laid waste by a devastating fire.), Baltimore 1904 (The Great Baltimore Fire of 1904 raged in Baltimore, Maryland , from 10:48 a.m. Sunday, February 7 , to 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 1904 ), San Francisco 1906 (The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was a major earthquake

The ruler is in good condition with some specks of paint wear, although nothing large. T are no dents or twists in the metal. This is NOT a reproduction.

Also check my other listing with an earlier version of this same ruler . No disasters are listed after 1877 on that ruler so I believe it could be the original ruler made at the time of the 1885 patent.
