Description: Up for auction is an early 19th century French Faience blue and white jug (1820 - 1840). (Although I think it 's older.) The jug was made in Franceand is pottery with a faience glaze. The jug has a primitive picture of a house and trees, and birds flying over . Surrounding the house on either side are stylized flowers. There are painted blue rings around the neck and base, and scroll work around the spout area. It has an applied handle. The colors are a blue and white. This was purchased in France. I believe it to be Nevers. It makes a wonderful cabinet piece. Country of Origin: France Maker: no marks. I believe it to be Nevers. Period: unknown – early 1800's Condition: There is wear on the bottom of the mug. There was a chip at the spout. There are some scratches on the glaze which is consistent with a piece of this age. Dimensions: Diameter: 6" w x 8" h. The diameter of the spout is 2 3/8".Please ask questions prior to bidding as I cannot accept any returns unless the description is inaccurate.
