This antique LEITZ microscope stands 11 3/4-inches in its closed position and 13 1/2-inches fully extended. It has a brass optical tube that fits into a brass holder through a brass rack-and-pinion gearing system. Two lens housings and the coarse and fine adjustment knobs are also brass. The three feet, stand, platform and upper arm are black iron. It comes with a 6X LEITZ eyepiece, two LEITZ objective lenses of 10X and 45X magnification and a third UNITRON objective of 100X. The rack-and-pinion system and the tilt mechanism work smoothly, and the optics are clean and produce very sharp images. It has a plano-concave mirror on a rotating and tilting arm and a condensor housing. This early instrument has some wear from use to the brass tube, but otherwise is in very good condition (see the photographs). The rack-and-pinion mechanism is stamped "E. LEITZ WETZLAR GERMANY", and the tube "Ernst Leitz Wetzlar No. 253521", dating this instrument to the early 1900s. This microscope will make a wonderful addition to a collection of antique scientific instruments. To see a complete list of our other items for sale, please click
