Presented for auction is a very special early Romantic Staffordshire cream pitcher. It is made of light body earthenware and features rich cranberry red transfer design. It has a very fancy scroll handle and fancy body shape. The transfer decoration features elaborate pheasants and urns. I do not know the pattern name or maker but this is strictly from one of the best makers, perhaps Clews, Adams, Stevenson, Enoch Wood. I would date it to circa 1830-1840. It stands 5 1/4 inches tall and is almost 7 inches from spout to handle. T is a highly professional repair to a slight rim hairline and t is typical all-over age crazing. No chips. This would be a treasured addition to any collection.
