This auction is for a solid silver English fusee lever, Massey type III pocket watch. A very early example of a patent, Massey type III, jewelled English fusee lever pocket watch. Working well and keeping good time.
As well as being a Massey type III, this is a rare Doctor's chronograph / hack stop pocket watch. It has a start/stop lever that allowed the doctor to take an accurate pulse reading. Seen on 19th century verge watches, but rarely on early fusee levers.
The watch has a sterling silver case which is hallmarked throughout for London 1837.
The case is in good, clean condition for its age. It has a few light marks,scratches and small dents commensurate with age, but on the whole its a great example!
The watch has an jewelled (4th wheel), patent, fusee lever, chain driven, movement which is numbered 1966. It has a slow / fast regulator needle with engraved balance cock.
The balance cock is engraved "PATENT". Movement winds and sets correctly. Runs well and keeps good fusee time. The movement has been removed from the case to photograph.
The watch has its original off white / cream, one piece, enamel dial and brass hands. The dial is in good order with no major damage. Hairline running down the centre. Domed glass
