Up for auction we have a rare and hard to come across earlyLenox Porcelain Ballerina Figurine. This figurine dates from the late 40’s and it was made by the artist Patricia Eakin who was a very important artist that worked for Lenox at the time and was famous for dressing her delicate figurines in costumes of paper – thin porcelain that were modeled and applied by hand. Because of the delicate nature of these figurines it is very hard to come across one that would be in its original perfect condition. Sadly, this is the case of our Ballerina. Even though she looks like she is perfect and nothing is missing, she has had some professional repairs. The original and very delicate paper thin porcelain skirt is completely gone and some of her fingers were missing and they have been repaired. I need to stress that the repair work was done by a professional porcelain restorer who did a fantastic job, so that the figurine looks beautiful and as original as possible. My pictures are not as clear as they should have been and unfortunately they do not give the figurine enough justice. The ballerina’s face is absolutely beautiful and she is so dainty and graceful that looks real! She bears the old “Lenox” mark on the base which reads: Lenox, Made in USA , Ballerina.
