Edmund Blampied (1886 - 1966) The Stable Drypoint Signed in pencil, lower center. Titled in pencil, extreme lower left edge. On laid paper. Measurements : plate mark: 5 5/8 x 7 3/8 in.; sheet: 9 7/8 x 12 3/4 in. Condition : Good dark impression; not laid down; wide margins. Remains of tape hinges at upper corners; minor foxing. Framer's notations, extreme bottom edge, pinhole in extreme upper right margin; shallow paper loss top edge middle; a couple of faint stains in outer margins; very small tear bottom edge middle, all of these are well away from the image. On the back are several remnants of paper tape at the edges and paper adhesions toward upper corners. Bio from the British Council: Edmund Blampied was born in St Martin, Jersey . He studied at Lambeth School of Art, and later worked for a time as an artist for the Daily Chronicle newspaper. Blampied was a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, and the Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum published a mongraph of his work. Apart from a few early lithographs most of his work is drypoint.
