Gilt rim; transferware portraits of King Edward VII Queen Alexandra with crown, flags, roses, shamrocks and thistles and other symbols, and the date “June 26, 1902.” Small c rown and shield with lion and coronation date on back. No mark on bottom. Slight firing flaws on interior and on bottom, but no chips, cracks, crazing or discoloration. In very good condition. The coronation of Edward VII was planned for June 26, 1902, but he developed appendicitis on June 24. After recovering from surgery (an innovative treatment for appendicitis in 1902), he was actually crowned on August 9.
