india ink on heavyweight paper, art image size 5" x 16.75" on 6.5" x 20" sheet
This is the original final drawing by Francis Edwina Dumm for the daily comic strip episode of Cap Stubbs and Tippie that was published in newspapers, likely in the 1940s. It features the three lead characters: Cap Stubbs, his dog Tippie, and the boy's loving "Gran'ma," Sara Bailey; in addition, Cap's father makes an appearance in the first panel. Edwina Dumm created Cap Stubbs and Tippie in 1918 and and continued the feature to 1966. This original is signed "Edwina" by the artist in the third panel . The George Matthew Adams Serivice, Inc. label appears in the third panel; "Distributed by King Features Syndicate" labels are in the first and second panels.
The labels shows minor darkening with age; glue staining in the word balloon of the first panel is left from a missing change in Father's dialogue: FINE condition.
