Elegant GORHAM SILVER KETTLE TEAPOT on Stand dated 1879


Presented is an elegant silver plated kettle on stand made by the Gorham Company in 1879. The kettle has a simple design with an ivory-insulated silver handle. The kettle has a beautifully molded band of leaves and berries that wrap around it entirely. T is no monogram on this piece, nor on the matching base. The silver plated stand features a matching molded band of leaves and berries at the bottom. The kettle rests on two vertical arms of the base, and the fit between the kettle and the base is excellent. The ivory on both sides of the handle of the kettle is thick and fully intact, and shows normal crazing for its age. The handle of the kettle is nice and tight, i.e., t is no wiggle in it. The kettle on stand was made in 1879, according to mark "L" on the bottom.

The kettle is well-hallmarked on the bottom with the number "1," "Gorham Co.," an anchor mark, a pattern number of "0121," "silver soldered," and the letter "L," all in that order. The matching base is also marked. It has "G 163" on the backside of each of its four feet.

The condition is excellent. T is one tiny pinpoint-size ding on the kettle (as shown in the second photo right below the banding), and a tiny one on the lid (as shown in the last photo), but these are very minor. T are no breaks
