Vintage English Rosewood Infill Shoulder Plane

Up for auction is a very old English rosewood infill shoulder plane. T is no maker's mark left visible that I can find, but it is in the style of Norris, Spiers, and the other English makers of the late 19th century. The plane is very heavy and measures approximately 7 5/8" long and 1 1/2" wide.

The cheeks and sole are heavily stained with age and have areas of pitting. The casting and mouth are free of chips, cracks, and breaks. The beautiful rosewood infill has a few small chips and cracks from age and use. The iron has plenty of usable metal left and is in very good condition. The wedge holds the iron very firmly for use.

This beautiful old plane would make an enviable user in the workshop or a nice showpiece for any collection.

Please look carefully at the photos as they further illustrate the condition and physical characteristics of this item. I take considerable time to describe each item accurately and in detail. However, certain aspects of an item's condition can be subjective, so please ask questions.
