WELCOME TO RARE_MEMENTOS This porcelain china collection , currently being listed, represents some of the finest artistry in the use of the family rose or pink palette. Between 1840 and 1880 the Mandarin style pattern suddenly changed among Chinese artisans. It developed into a style recognized as Famille Pink or Rose Medallion designed for export to meet European and American demand. Each porcelain piece is meticulously hand-painted in a motif of either four or six alternating panels of floral sprays and scenes of Asian figures such as court ladies on a terrace. Centered is the gilt medallion which bears China's national flower, the pink Peony embellished by bright yellow butterflies, rich green vines and gold, flora, and exotic birds likened to the Banting. The enamels are bright and thick, showing minimal wear, with a clear glaze. Indeed, harmony is the theme of Famille Rose china. Exquisite work of art. Two ROSE MEDALLION ANTIQUE PLATES DESCRIPTION: Two matching large plates with minor rim chips. (refer to photos of Plate 45 left, and Plate 46 right). No cracks, no repairs. They are unmarked which dates each to mid 1800's. This fine c ollection comes from a private estate Martha's Vinyard, Mass.
