You are bidding on a vintage 1940's Morton Aircraft Corp. Morton M-5 .992 spark ignition model airplane engine with serial number 2458. Engine is 100% Original, and Complete with the exception of one Spark Plug Wire. Includes Rare Ring Type Engine Mount, and Morton Aluminum 3 Blade Adjustable Pitch Propeller. This engine is die cast with steel sleeves and 9 uneven spaced stepped cylinder fins. It has a ball bearing supported forged crankshaft and a 1” OD bakelite timer housing. It is very clean and in excellent condition. Engine turns over freely, and has good compression all five cylinders. THE MORTON M-5 ENGINE: The Morton M5 is four stroke, spark ignition, five cylinder radial engine (using the usual master/slave rod arrangement), based on the full size LaBlond radial. It was designed by Glen Morton of Morton Aviation in the 1940's and was sold both as a production engine and a kit.
