This exceptional vintage brooch carries a very rare signature. It is signed "Schubert" for Emilio Schuberth, a famous designer during the 1940's and 50's who was often referred to as "the tailor to the stars". Some of his famous clientel included Ingrid Bergman, Sophia Loren and Bette Davis, to name a few. He was well known for his line of clothing and apparently produced accessories as well, such as costume jewelry. This piece is quite unusual in it's design. The setting is japanned (black metal) with a domed style. The top is loaded to the max with dazzling rhinestones in a fabulous color combination of pink and green. Each and every stone is prong set and all are unfoiled with an open back. What makes this brooch stand out however, is the way the stones were set. They are intentionally placed upside down! This means the faceting is on the tops, creating a pointed, prickly look! The only stone that is not set this way is the chunky, peridot green top stone that crowns the top. This piece is a larger size, measuring just under 2" in diameter - 1 7/8" to be exact. It is in excellent condition. A ll of the rhinestones are present and bright, the pin back is secure and working well and it retains a good finish to the setting. I have only been able

It doesn't happen often...but it DOES happen. Sadly, we do not have any control over the post office or customs, any more than you do! (Though we sure wish we did!).
