This is a fabulous French Dagger Dirk that dates from the early 19th Century. It is mounted with a double-edged damascus blade which is beautifully etched and measures 4 7/8 inches in length that remains in superb, untouched condition with only a couple of minor surface stains. It wears a simple S-shaped cross guard and wonderful ebony hilt which has survived extremely well with only one hairline crack, but no play, and with the original gold braided rope tassels still present on the ferrule. Interestingly, t is a lovely silver escutcheon inset at the pommel which features a crowned Fleur-de-Lis. The crimson leather covered scabbard is silver fitted and also remains in very healthy condition, fitting snuggly to the blade. Overall measuring 9 1/8 inches in length.
