Faith, Hope, and Charity: Lovely 18th c. Old Master Drawing A small, delightful pen and ink drawing, with white gouache highlights,18th century and probably German. At first glance this is appears to be a merry company, as three people share laughter and drink in a garden, with a ruined temple column just behind them. On second glance (and that's what's marvelous about Old Master drawings -- they can have multiple levels of meaning), it seems to be a religious or spiritual allegory. The three figures are, I think, Faith, Hope, and Charity; and the winecup is a ceremonial chalice. It's a rich and beautiful image. The drawing is mounted in an archival mat, in an attractive antique frame, about 100 years old in my estimation. Dimensions are about 4 inches by 5.5 inches (sight). With the mat and frame, dimensions are about 8.5 inches by 10.5 inches. The frame has a few minor dings; the drawing is in very good condition. It's ready to hang and enjoy. An excellent and desirable find. Shipping for U.S. residents will be $9. And to see what else I have for sale, please
