Edited by Professor Calvin E. Stowe. Worthington, Dustin & Co., Hartford: 1870 . Beautiful Pictorial Self-Interpreting Family Bible. Tooled in sleek gold embossed, raised diamond design on leather covers, lightly worn surfaces, small loss to bottom of spine with small split, otherwise covers in amazing shape. Spine w/gilt designed titling still shines as well! Very nice. All pages bound, lightly browned, some light stains and a couple creases, gilt page edges, little if any chipping; covers attached firmly. Many illustrations and maps, some by Gustave Dore, as shown. Family pages and photo holders present and register contains some info for the marriage of William Rising Eaton and Henrietta Parmlee of Bridgeport, CT. Also found are a few obits and news clippings, as well as a very cleek death respect certificate for Mr. Eaton's death in 1913 by the local Oddfellows lodge. He was a prominent member as well as a local sawyer in the lumber mill. Bible complete and RARE in a very unique style. Size of the bible rough estimate 11" wide, 12.5" tall,3.75" thick.
