A WARREN MAGAZINE
FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND
CHRISTOPHER LEE COVER
No need to give the history for this magazine.
I'm sure everyone knows the magazine ran from 1958 to 1983 and included 191 issues (if you count the 10 issues of Monster World as issues #70-79), which everyone does.
The magazine was published by James Warren and edited by Forrest J. Ackerman (a.k.a. "Uncle Forrey"). The main reason for the success of this magazine was due to Mr. Ackerman being a fan and collector of monster movie memorabilia. His collection of pictures printed in the magazine was what drew us all in, but his description and comments about the films were an added bonus.
He really was "Uncle Forrey" telling us about the film (with pictures) and making it all entertaining. After the original run of "Famous Monsters" ended, he would again work on other "Monster Magazines" (such as "MONSTERLAND") and again return to "Famous Monsters of Filmland" Magazine when it was revived.
