I don't know too much about this vase. I bought it, along with a matching oval vase, which I have listed in a separate auction, from a dealer who found these in storage. She said she bought them in the early 80's from the Fenton Gift Shop. She also thought these might have been a special order for someone, but didn't know who. The only information I have been able to find is in John Walk's "Rarities 1940-1985, page 151. He calls them "Morning Glories on Rose Quartz", although these don't look like morning glories to me. He states, " In the early 1980's, prior to Fenton's introduction of Rose Quartz in the Connoisseur line, t must have been quite a few sample runs of this color. Keep in mind that this is the first time that this color was ever offered, and it had been derived from the formula that would become Blue Burmese." The interior of the vase is pale rose pink, the exterior is the deeper rose quartz color and sanded. It was hand painted by Marilyn Wagner (while still employed at Fenton) with blue, pansy like flowers, accented in frit, green vines, and little white frit flowers. I had this hand signed with a diamond point pen by Don Fenton at a local signing event in 2002. He signed it, "Don Fenton '02". It retains the Fenton black and gold sticker, a "Made in U.S.A." sticker, and has the Fenton logo with an "8". It measures read more
