A Few Words About Pure Gin 1883 Henry Shufeldt Chicago

Vintage, 16 page 1883 publication titled, “A Few Words About Pure Gin, With Compliments of Henry H. Shufeldt & Co., Chicago .” Distiller Henry H. Shufeldt produced Imperial Gin and Rye Malt Gin. It expounds the purity and quality of their product with professional testimonials. Wonderful engravings of their various barrels used in the distillery process. On the back cover is a sample label that is said to appear on all packages of Shufeldt Gin which is an endorsement by William McMurtrie, Illinois Industrial University , Department of Chemistry, Ex-Chemist , US Dept. of Agriculture, dated March 26, 1883.

Shufeldt distillery was established in 1857 and seems to have been absorbed in the great “Whiskey Trust” in 1891.

Nice condition with some light soiling front/back, measures 5 ¾ x 4 inches.
