Emery: Strawberry with Silver Leaves USA, early 20th. Century I'm happy to offer this rare Emery, an original item from USA, made in the early 20th. century. I found it in Germany. Very special: Just the same strawberry as emery is illustrated on Plate 220, page 202 in Nerylla Taunton's book "Antique Needlework Tools". She writes: "A vast number of extremely high quality early twentieth century sterling silver needlework tools are of American origin ... as shown in plate 220." And "A fabric cushion in the shape of a strawberry was filled with rains of emery and often the American version had silver leaves at the top." This is the one I'm offering. T are four leaves on the top and an eye for a ribbon. The long thread of the eye is marked: "STERLING and PAT.APD FOR", difficult to read. Perhaps it is made by Unger Bros., a prestigious American silver manufacturer, but I can't find a sign. The silver originally is made so dark! The fabric is light egg shell coloured like a green strawberry, the tiny points are embroidered with silk. It is very hardly mended and heavy, it weights 50 grams. Measure: 2" long + 3/8" eye, 1 3/8" diameter above Very good condition. Two tiny light brown stains, on the tip a little bit from the shining thread of the fabric is lost, but the cotton is t, no hole! Shippingcosts: Registered
