This is a lovely Foley advertising dish probably used in shop windows. It has on the front an attractive Art Nouveau stylised peacock most likely to advertise Foley's peacock range. It is understood that it was designed by George Logan. George was a Scot, a contemporary of Charles Rennie Macintosh and one of the artists who established what has become known as the "Glasgow Style". The dish itself is in excellent condition for its age with no chips, cracks or crazing and has not been restored to the best of my knowledge. It measures 3.25 inches in diameter. For complete accuracy, I will mention that there is slight smudging to the paint work at the very top of the letters "L", "E" and "Y" of the word "FOLEY" round the front rim which obviously occurred during manufacture but you will see yourself from the photograph that this is minor and does not detract from the overall appearance of the little dish. It has Foley's mark on the reverse. This piece should appeal to collectors of both Art Nouveau and Glasgow Style items. I will post the piece as soon as possible after payment has cleared!
