WILEMAN Shelley BLUE *SHELL* FLORAL GILDED SLOP BOWL WITH VINTAGE STAPLE REPAIR c1891 The item has gone a bit brown throughout. The gilding has worn and there is a vintage copper staple repair to hairline cracks see photos. This rare and very beautiful bone china slop bowl, as manufactured by the Wileman/Shelley pottery of King Street, Fenton, Staffordshire and is on the stunning Shell shape. The pattern number is 4311 and the RD numbers are 150035 and 164516. The pattern is called Floral Display. The decoration features purple flowers , and these are repeated inside the item. The shape resembles a shell, or in my opinion, like waves lapping at the shore.. The edge of the bowl has a delightful pie crust scallop to the high points of the deeper scallops. Absolutely superb. This is a lovely and very rare bowl with interesting staple repairs, from my favourite pottery i also have other saucers etc by separate negotiation. Please do look at the photographs, as they form a major part of the description, and make up your own mind. As usual, any white marks are purely light reflection, as flash is not used.
