Folk Art, by Bonnie Butler, "Highwaymen" painter

Up for auction is wonderful watercolor by Bonnie Butler. From research I have done, Bonnie is one of the 26 African American "Highwaymen" artists who began their career by selling paintings along the highway in Florida in the late 50's-60's. She still continues to paint today but many of her works are of landscapes in Florida. This scene is very unusual as it is of a baptism in a river. I'm not sure if the scene if from the south or from Africa. T is a card that is included with information about the artist, listing her address as Mississippi. The watercolor is 5"x7" but in a 8"x 10" navy mat. (The mat has a slight crease in it but the painting is perfect). This is also signed "Bonnie Butler" and her favorite scripture verse, John 14:6 (Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.") The colors are still beautiful in this work (camera may not show this well) and it would be a nice addition to any home or office. Please email me with any questions.
