Framed Dutch Psalter Leaf on Vellum circa 1470 Rare!

This is a nice example of a leaf from a miniature medieval Psalter. It dates from around 1470. at a time when it became more acceptable to write religious works in the vernacular, in Dutch or German. This leaf measures 2 5/8 x 3 5/8 inches; psalters of this size were made to be carried around by priests and nobles and enjoyed popularity in the late 1400s due to the rise in literacy among laymen. This leaf is in excellent condition, and is rubricated in red and blue. A letter E is prominent on the obverse. A fine example of a monk's handiwork and late medieval script.

Double matted in a 7 x 9 gold leaf frame.
