Framed Knute Heldner Etchings - Signed & Titled "Crawfishers Shack" & Cathedral

Knute Heldner (1877-1952) was a painter/artist of Louisiana, New Orleans in particular. His wife was an artist as well. Up for bid is a pair of etchings by Heldner that are framed and matted identically, probably in the 1960's or 70's. Only one of them is hand signed and titled "Crawfishers Shack"; they are both signed in the body of the prints as shown in the pictures. The other etching is of The Cathedral in New Orleans; it is not signed or titled as noted previously. Please note that the paper color is decidedly green as it may not show up this way on all computer screens. I have never seen a Heldner work printed on colored paper before, so it may be a rarity to consider or a color to avoid in your decorating or collecting. The measurements of the images themselves (within the area of the matt) are 15" long by 11 1/2" wide. Framed each is 21 1/12" long by 17 1/2" wide. Neither of the etchings have been taken out of their original frame. Some creasing appears to show on the etchings through the glass, but nothing major or distracting from the image. The matt and frame are dated in style and show wear. Reframing them would really improve the look. The pictures are each large enough to stand alone and make a statement on any wall. I will not cover damage due to glass breakage in the mail. If you would like me to remove the glass, ... read more
