Collector piece: a polished aluminum VOISIN emblem, or mascot (Mascot = “Maskottchen” in German =“mascotte” in French). Item listed "Good 'till cancelled". See other items on: /RARE-OR-UNIQUE Description: Collector “mascot”, of the highest possible decorating effect, this precise totally accurate REPRODUCTION will fit any automobile of the world famous French luxury brand “Avions Voisin”, which was established by Gabriel Voisin . Done for a C25 AERODYNE but fits C1 to C30. This mascot is therefore THE real thing, entirely rebuilt as originally made and designed by Gabriel Voisin. Most “original” Voisin mascots have totally disappeared throughout the decades, to the point that even the mascots presented on the hood of the real and important cars, are almost always either entirely new and/or approximate reproductions, made a long time ago, some remotely faithful to what Voisin really wanted to have sitting on the car in the first place. This one is the exact reproduction of the best of the 1920's items, with all the exact dimensions, accurate numbers of aluminum plates, correct individual thickness, authorized precise weight, genuine wing angles (not parallel but slightly open), etc... Knowledgeable enthousiasts can suggest their own specifications if any (modification of the number of plates for the body of the bird, increase in the thickness, for example). Dimensions: The overall height, from ground to the tip of the wings, is 22.5 cm (= 8.858 inches), without the circular base. Thickness of the 10 interior aluminum plates: 2.5 mm each (total 2.5 cm = 0.984 inch). Thickness of the aluminum wings: 3 mm (= 0.118 inch) Thickness of the mascot, at the base of the wings: 31 mm (= 1.22 inch) Weight: about 300 grams (= about .66 Lbs of solid aluminum). This piece features superior intricate details, see photos. Condition: 100% as described. Best possible quality of manufacturing skill and of polished aluminum. Remarks: Sent in a protective box carefully padded. Shipping method: registered insured courier with tracking number. No loss possible. What you get is exactly what you see on the photos, without the circular base which is provided only upon request, depending on your particular need to display or mount the mascot. This item is extremely rare and will stay so. Question: Is this a new reproduction? Answer: It is a very costly reproduction, ordered by a C25 VOISIN owner, to a highly skilled craftsman in LYON (France). It is a work of art, undistinguishable from the period item. The metal quality, the thickness, the dimensions, the angles, the smoothness of the surface, the tiniest details, the weight, are literally perfect. It was entirely handmade in only a very small number of units (12 were originally available). Nobody else has ever succeeded to do it so far, because of the VOISIN riveting technique, which is unmatchable without a special skill now unavailable. This was intended to replace his original mascot when the car stayed overnight in possibly risky environments, in order to limit the disappointment of the mascot being stolen. However the reproduction being as good as the original, (in fact much better looking), the potential loss is now similar, except for the possible sentimental value of the original one. All "original" mascots did not age well because aluminum of these days was not the 2012 ALCOA quality, and aged very badly, while not being repairable.
