French M1874 Gras Bayonet and Steel Scabbard - Manufactured in 1877This bayonet was produced for the French government at the French state arms plant and by Steyr in Austria. Marked on the spine of the blade is the arsenal (St. Etienne) and year of manufacture (June of 1877). Bayonet is approx. 25 1/4" long, with a triangular blade that is approx. 20 1/2" long. There are various markings on the other side of the blade and on the hooked quillon. The triangular blade is in excellent condition, with normal age related wear, marks, and some minor nicks. The wood handle is in good condition, as is the cross guard and brass pommel.
