From the collection of a client of many years, is this fine landscape.
The drawing, executed in pen and ink over a pencil underdrawing on early 19th century paper, depicts and animated Italian coastal landscape. Impressive cliffs are emerging from the sea. Castleruins can be noticed on top of a cliff left, fishermen are active in the bay.
This drawing, most likely, was made after nature and meant to be a study for a larger scale Romantic landscapepainting.
