DAGUERREOTYPE (2) AMBROTYPE (1) TINTYPE (1) FAMILY SIXTH 1/6 PLATE MOTHER & FATHER DAGUERREOTYPES , NINTH 1/9 PLATE LITTLE GIRL AMBROTYPE AND NINTH 1/9 PLATE LITTLE BOY TINTYPE ALL TAKEN IN THE 1850'S IN FULL CASES This auction is for four photos all of one family, father, mother, daughter and son. The ninth plate daguerreotypes were both taken in 1854 and are in full cases. Father, Benjamin B. (1815 -1870) married his wife Hannah (1825-1885) on March 15, 1854. The two daguerreotypes were their individual formal wedding portraits. The ambrotype of the daughter, Lizzie (born January 29, 1855) looks like it was taken when she was about 3 yrs old which would put it in about 1858. Son, Frank (born in 1856) looks like he was about 2 or 3 when his tintype was taken. In the ambrotype of the little girl she is wearing a pair of fingerless lace gloves and is carefully clutching what looks like a candy cane in her right hand; this, I suspect, was her bribe for being a good girl while having her picture taken. All four cases are in very good condition. I believe they are all embossed leather, with both the father's and the son's enriched with gold gilt.
